Footage of Trent Alexander-Arnold appearing to react to boos inside Anfield ahead of Liverpool vs. Real Madrid has emerged.

Alexander-Arnold was named on the bench for his new side's Champions League clash against Liverpool on Tuesday.

He will be hoping for some minutes on the pitch, having made the switch during the summer.

Ahead of kick-off, Alexander-Arnold took to the pitch that he used to call home and interacted with some of his old teammates, including Curtis Jones.

He also warmed up on the pitch with his new colleagues.

Whilst on the Anfield turf, the tannoy read out the line-ups for both teams.

And Alexander-Arnold's name was greeted with a chorus of boos by the Liverpool faithful.

A video on social media has captured the moment he was jeered by Liverpool supporters before zooming in on Alexander-Arnold's face.

He could be seen laughing as his name was booed.

Speaking before tonight's European tie, Alexander-Arnold said his feelings for Liverpool will not change despite being criticised by some fans for the way he allowed his contract to expire.

"No matter what, my feelings won't change towards Liverpool," he said when asked if getting a good reception back at Anfield would give him closure.

"I have got memories there that will last me a lifetime and no matter how I am received, that won't change."

Alexander-Arnold added: "I think whichever way I am received is the decision of the fans.

"I will always love the club. I will always be a fan of the club. I will always be thankful for the opportunities [Liverpool gave me] and everything that we achieved together will live with me forever."

The 27-year-old made 354 appearances across all competitions for Liverpool after coming through the club's youth academy.

He helped his boyhood club win the Premier League and the Champions League, among other major trophies.

Alexander-Arnold, who joined Real ahead of the Club World Cup, has played five games this season.
