Manchester United must sell four players after Bruno Fernandes turned down Al Hilal's big-money offer.

The 30-year-old had been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal allegedly prepared to offer the Red Devils a fee in the region of £80 million.

They wanted a statement signing prior to the Club World Cup and offered to pay Fernandes up to to £700,000 per week.

But the Manchester United captain has rejected Al Hilal's proposal, according to none other than transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Taking to X, Romano wrote: "Bruno Fernandes has REJECTED Al Hilal proposal.

"Despite crazy contract proposal from the Saudi Pro League club, Bruno Fernandes wants to continue playing football in Europe. Man United captain wants to play at top level in Europe. Decision made."

After failing to qualify for the Champions League, United are reportedly aiming to free up funds by reducing a ballooning wage structure by selling the likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Tyrell Malacia.

Sancho, who earns £250,000 a week, will return to the club after he failed to reach an agreement with Chelsea over personal terms.

After a successful loan spell at Real Betis, scoring nine goals in 26 games, Antony's departure would save United roughly £105,000 per week.

Rashford will also return to Old Trafford after a spell on loan, registering four goals and six assists during his time at Aston Villa. Although his estimated £300,000 per week wages will reduce the number of potential suitors for the 27-year-old's signature, with the Mancunian unlikely to earn that figure at another club.

Dutch defender Malacia, who earns £80,000 per week, struggled on loan at PSV Eindhoven.

But with the signing of Patrick Dorgu, alongside the development of Harry Amass and incoming 18-year-old left back Diego Leon, Malacia will be forced to leave if he wants to play next season.

If United move on Sancho, Antony, Rashford and Malacia it would free up £730,000 a week on the wage bill, more than the expected combined wages of Fernandes (£300,000 per week) alongside new signing Matheus Cunha and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, who has said he wants to join MUFC.

Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof will all leave the club for free this summer, as United make room for incoming signings.

With Evans earning £65,000 per week, Eriksen taking home £170,000 per week, and Lindelof bagging £120,000 every seven days, it's a saving of £18.46 million just from saving goodbye to those three professionals.

The club has already agreed a £62.5m deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for Cunha, with the 26-year-old Brazilian scoring 15 goals and registering six assists last season as Wolves finished 16th.

And he will reportedly earn around £200,000 per week at Old Trafford.

United are also set to open talks with Brentford to sign Mbeumo, after he reportedly decided he wants to move to Manchester.

The 25-year-old Cameroonian bagged 20 goals along with eight assists last season. He would reportedly be offered a deal in the region of £180,000 per week.
