A Romanian football team forfeited their most recent game so that they they could all go to their teammate's wedding.

Poiana Mare, who play in the fourth tier in Romania, were due to play CS Carcea but it clashed with Deliu Ionut tying the knot with his other half Diana.

Mare asked for the game to be rescheduled but after the opposition declined their proposal, they ended up taking an automatic 3-0 loss so that they could be in attendance.

Posting on their official Facebook page, the club wrote: "Today is an important day for our colleague and friend Deliu Ionuț and the choice of his heart Diana, they chose to sign the contract of life and get married!

They also posted a picture of the squad enjoying the festivities, with the caption, "We lost a match but we won a family!"

Flipping the script, back in January a groom in India felt the wrath of his bride after he left his own marriage ceremony early to play in a 7-a-side game with his mates.

Ridvan from Kerala in India, plays for FIFA Manjeri as a defender and their Malappuram 7s league game clashed with his big celebration.

But he loves the beautiful game so much that he ended up swerving the wedding night in favour of some footy, in a move that did not go down well with his other half.

According to Sayan Dey from talksports24x7, he told his wife: "Excuse me for five minutes!" before he headed off to the game, which his team won.

But his Mrs was understandably annoyed at where his priorities lie, asking him, "So if the game was at noon, would you cancel the marriage for the game?".
