Arsenal star told he's now become 'undroppable' under Mikel Arteta after Brighton nightmare

Arsenal suffered their first defeat of the season as they lost 3-0 to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League - and one player has had his reputation enhanced despite the scoreline.

Defeat for Mikel Arteta’s side meant that they did not equal a club record of eight wins to begin a season - which hasn't happened since 1903/04 - but it also meant they dropped to second in the league table.

The Gunners’ performance was poor and the players struggled; now fans have suggested one player is ‘undroppable’ following the defeat.

One Arsenal star has been described as ‘undroppable’ after Brighton defeat

Arsenal found themselves 2-0 down at the interval after two incredible strikes from Brighton, the first from Pascal Gross in the 31^st minute and then Charalampos Kostoulas in additional time.

Chema Andres netted the third to collect all three points and help Brighton climb to third in the Premier League table.

Ahead of the loss, Arteta decided to make two changes to his Arsenal team that secured a win over Sunderland, as Bruno Guimaraes made his first start in the Premier League for the club as he came in for Myles Lewis-Skelly and Jurrien Timber replaced Ben White.

The decision to bring in the former Newcastle star for Lewis-Skelly may have been fatal for the Gunners, at least in the opinion of fans on social media.

One supporter suggested: “Lewis-Skelly might actually be undroppable.”

Another said: “Tell Arteta, never bench Myles Lewis-Skelly again.”

A third fan gave his thoughts on the team and the importance of Lewis-Skelly as he said: “Ngl, Ben white attacking prowess over Jurrien Timber is crazily overlooked. Saka and Odegaard look so ordinary without White and I feel Bruno Guimaraes can continue coming off the bench until he understands the game plan perfectly.

“He looked so lost today that you'll think he's Kobbie Mainoo or Caicedo. Myles Lewis Skelly should continue starting our games IMO. I understand the fact that, Guimaraes earned that starting lineup because of that Sunderland goal yeah. But you don't change the tactics when it's still working out.”

Myles Lewis-Skelly’s start to the season analysed

Ahead of the campaign, there were rumours that Lewis-Skelly could be heading for the exit door, as Manchester United were interested in acquiring his signature.

While he did not depart, there was a serious question as to his place in the squad, as they had just acquired Guimaraes from Newcastle United after a lengthy transfer saga.

Despite this potential disruption, Lewis-Skelly has made a fantastic start to the new season for Arsenal, and it has made these rumours appear ridiculous.

To this point, the 19-year-old has made six appearances across all competitions, proving to be crucial in the centre of midfield.

Lewis-Skelly has featured in the previous four of the Gunners’ Premier League matches, having started in all of them; however, his minutes have decreased week upon week.

He started midweek against Ipswich Town as the club progressed in the Carabao Cup, and perhaps Arteta had taken the decision to give him a rest after such a heavy start to the campaign for a 19-year-old.

However, fans will believe they have made their opinion clear on social media that they believe he should not be dropped from their midfield again this season.
