Liam Rosenior sparks mass on-pitch brawl moments after Ligue 1 clash as explanation for behaviour emerges
Liam Rosenior has made a fantastic start to life in charge of Paris FC as he returned to Ligue 1 management after his forgettable spell at Chelsea, as they sit third in the French top flight.
The Parisians are unbeaten in Ligue 1 to this point as they have won three and drawn two of their five fixtures.
Rosenior’s latest match in charge of Paris FC saw them secure three points over his former club Strasbourg, but this wasn’t the story of the match as a mass on-pitch brawl broke out after the clash.

Rosenior departed Strasbourg last season to take charge of Chelsea; however, it must be stated that there was no bad blood between the parties for this decision, as the Premier League team is the sister club of the Ligue 1 side, as both are owned by BlueCo.

Yet, Rosenior’s spell in charge of Chelsea did not go ideally, as he was only in charge of the Blues for just over three months before now being appointed manager of Paris FC in July.
Paris FC secured a 2-1 home victory over Strasbourg, and upon securing the three points, the English manager walked towards the away end, waving his arms and shouting in celebration in the direction of the away fans, as seen in video footage.
Rosenior could be seen beating his chest before he flung his arm at the Strasbourg supporters, which sparked an immediate reaction from the Strasbourg players.
They ran towards the former Hull City manager, with a scuffle breaking out on the pitch and both teams flooding towards the clash to get involved.
Rosenior was eventually dragged away from the scene before making his way to the Paris FC fans to celebrate their victory.
Now, the English manager has explained his actions post-match as he told Ligue 1 Plus.
Rosenior said: “I will say, the people in the club that know me know I've always been respectful.
"I've always wanted the best for that football club. I still do want the best for that football club. When I heard the chants... I understand French, I understand the context of the language. That's a step too far. There are a lot of things that have happened.
"It's a wonderful football club, it's a great city, it's a club with great tradition, I've always protected those traditions. So, for me to celebrate in the way that I did was for many reasons."
He would further clear this up in his press conference as he said: “A small part of the supporters, and I emphasise, a small part of them because Strasbourg is a fantastic club, were disrespectful.
"They insulted my family. My bench was very angry. So for me, celebrating like that, obviously it was a message. I won't say anything more about it."

Liam Rosenior’s managerial career in France
The English manager was given his first job in French football after an impressive spell in charge of Hull, coming close to getting the club into the Championship playoffs by finishing seventh in 2024.
However, this would not be deemed successful by the Hull owner, Acun Ilicali, and Rosenior was sacked from his position.
In July 2025, he replaced Patrick Viera as manager of Strasbourg, and in his first season they finished seventh in Ligue 1, qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.
He departed Strasbourg in January 2026 for Chelsea, but he has since returned to the country where he found relative success, this time being appointed manager of Paris FC.
Since his return to France, he has been successful, as he has yet to taste defeat with the Parisians, and he has them in third place in Ligue 1.
