Former Brentford striker Ivan Toney sparked a mass brawl after taking a penalty in Al Ahli’s 2-1 win over Al Taawoun on Wednesday (January 14).
England international Toney, 29, scored his tenth goal in 13 Saudi Pro League games this term with a composed penalty in the 14th minute of stoppage time against Al Taawoun to hand Al Ahli a crucial 2-1 win, which put them back into the top four of the league and level on points with second-place Al Nassr.
The former Brentford man was not fazed by the opposition goalkeeper, who pointed to his left. Toney put the ball to that side while Mailson dived in the opposite direction to his right.
During the celebrations, Toney mimicked the keeper, standing on his line before pointing to the left-hand side of the goal.

Al Taawoun’s players were not best pleased with the Englishman and quickly became embroiled in a tussle with him and several other Al Ahli stars before the home side continued their celebrations with several of the substitutes joining in.

Fans offered their thoughts on Toney’s ‘cold’ penalty and celebration on social media.
One said: “Don’t try mind games on Ivan Toney.”
Another added: “Ivan Toney remains one of the most reliable penalty takers in the game.”
A third claimed: “Ivan Toney is a beast on the pitch. Strong, fearless, and unstoppable for Al-Ahli.”

While a fourth commented: “Ivan Toney is the top 5 penalty takers in this era. Unbelievably cold. Team needed him to score a winner in 90+10, sicko was laughing when the opponents were trying all sorts of delay tactics to put him off. Looked the keeper straight in the eye and sent him the wrong way with no fuss.”

Toney, despite his consistent goal scoring, has not played for England since a two-minute cameo in a 3-1 friendly defeat against Senegal back in June of 2025.
Before that, he had not featured since the Euro 2024 final, which the Three Lions lost 2-1 against Spain in Berlin.

However, Toney will at least be in with a chance of featuring in Thomas Tuchel’s squad as back-up to Harry Kane if he continues his fine form this term ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
Al Ahli return to action away at Al Kholood on Saturday (January 17).
