Anthony Gordon won't make unusual request at Barcelona that his team-mates would turn down instantly

Anthony Gordon appears to have taken to life in Catalunya with ease as he has provided five assists in his first six appearances for Barcelona.

The England international also appears to have the full backing of the club as they posted a supportive message for him on social media as he searches for his first goal with Barca.

Gordon’s teammates also appear to be getting on swimmingly with him in training and on the pitch; however, he feels that they will not be interested in joining him in a hobby he is quite passionate about.

Anthony Gordon believes his teammates would have no interest in unique club at Barcelona

The 25-year-old was dropped for the Racing Santander match and did not get off the bench as Barcelona secured three points; however, he had started in the previous four La Liga matches for the Catalan side.

Gordon also made an appearance off the bench in the Champions League for Hansi Flick’s side when they secured a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord.

Appearances can be deceiving, but the entire Barcelona squad looks happy under Flick as he rotates the squad continuously to maintain this harmony.

Squads that appear happy usually socialise off the pitch, and Gordon has had the idea of creating a club around one of his many hobbies; however, he does not believe the younger players would be interested, as he explained to El Pais.

The England international was asked if he’d love to establish a book club, but he can’t see his teammates joining him for a sit-down discussion about literature.

Gordon said: “I'd like to, but I haven't tried. The lads are too young; they wouldn't do it. I know a footballer who reads is unusual. But I feel like I'm a very old soul, you know? Like I belong to the past.

“I belong to another era. I think my personality fits better with the '90s. Now everyone is obsessed with social media, everything is materialistic, and romance is almost nonexistent. I'm not like that; I prefer the past.

“Since social media arrived, around 2010, I think the world has gone downhill. People focus on things that don't matter. The only thing that truly matters is at home, with your loved ones.”

The undisputed star of the current Barcelona team is Yamal, as the 19-year-old is bidding to lift the Ballon d’Or later in the year, with the Spanish international confident his overall impact last season is enough to give him the honour.

Now, Gordon has opened up about Yamal, with the England international impressed by his mentality, as he had already known he was a good footballer.

The 25-year-old said: “It's his mentality. I expected him to be good and talented, but I didn't expect that attitude: normally a player so young and talented relaxes on defense, and he presses as much as Rafa and I do. And he never misses a workout.”
