Jose Mourinho 'To Return To Real Madrid' As Manager Until End Of Season

Jose Mourinho is poised to return to Real Madrid for a second stint in charge of the club.

After a dismal run of results, including two El Clasico defeats to Barcelona and a 4-1 Champions League round of 16 hiding dished out by Ajax, Santiago Solari looks set to relieved of his duties.

Solari had initially steadied the ship following the sacking of Julen Lopetegui in October but with Real 12 points behind Barca in La Liga and out of the Champions League, it looks as though he will become the second Real Madrid boss to be dismissed in a matter of months.

The former Real Castilla boss and former player is expected to be in charge for the trip to Real Valladolid but is to be given his marching his orders after that.

And reports from both Spanish TV station Tele Madrid and Goal say that Mourinho is set to take the reins until the end of the season.

It will be the first management job for Mourinho since his Manchester United sacking in December, though he is not expected to be coming in on a full-time basis as he did in his first spell, where he won three trophies.

That's because they still harbour hopes that Zinedine Zidane will come back to the club and save them from the mess they find themselves in.

The 13-time European champions apparently came calling for the Frenchman, winner of an unprecedented three Champions Leagues in a row with Real as manager, but he doesn't fancy returning just yet.

However, it could be a different response in June at the end of the season.

"I know that this morning the president [Florentino Perez] called Zidane to ask him back, he said not now," former Real president Ramon Calderon told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"He has left open the possibility of coming back in June."

Would bringing Mourinho back be the right call?
