Former Manchester City and Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has swapped Dublin for Monte-Carlo - and is living a very different life these days.

Dunne made 431 appearances in the Premier League, including 253 for City - who he captained in a nine-year stint.

Rather impressively, the Republic of Ireland international won City's Player of the Year award four times in a row - though he does also hold the record for the most own goals in Premier League history with ten.

The man mountain of a centre-back retired in 2015 after his release from QPR and after spending a lot of his footballing life in Merseyside, Manchester and Birmingham, has settled in lavish Monte-Carlo.

Dunne relocated to the plush area in the Principality of Monaco with his wife Helen and two children Tayo and Lyla.

He remains involved in football but has the luxury of scorching sun and blue skies.

"It's different. I run an academy over here and work with a local club coaching kids, so I still do football every day," Dunne told Daily Star.

"Games at weekends stuff like that.

"The difference is the weather, it's nice to be able to put a pair of shorts on and this morning I've been for a swim before this, so it's nice.

"I'm going back to Ireland this afternoon for a couple of days. I enjoy going back there and to England as well.

"I think when you live somewhere it's not the holiday that you go on, you know?

"When you live anywhere you have to get on with normal day to day things, so it's nicer doing it in better weather."

In a previous interview Dunne had said former City teammate Antoine Sibierski helped influence his decision in moving to France.

He ended up buying a house after spending a few days in Monte-Carlo but says the move was "just sort of fluid".

According to networthpost, Dunne has a net worth of $2 million.
