Jude Bellingham apologised to Real Madrid fans after he scored a brilliant goal during their 2-0 victory over Real Oviedo on Thursday night.
The England international wrapped up victory for Los Blancos when he collected the ball outside the box, skipped past two opponents and drilled a fierce left-footed shot into the bottom corner.
Bellingham was mobbed by his teammates after the excellent finish, but instead took the opportunity to apologise to Real Madrid supporters for a disappointing season. The England international held both of his arms aloft towards the home fans in muted celebration, with a sympathetic look on his face, after he and his teammates had been jeered by the crowd earlier in the match.
It was only the seventh goal the 22-year-old has scored all season and just his second goal of the calendar year. Bellingham's last La Liga strike came all the way back in December when his side defeated Sevilla 2-0.

Real Madrid remain second in the La Liga table and will finish runners-up to fierce rivals Barcelona, who won the league with victory in El Clásico last weekend. That defeat also confirmed a trophyless season for the club, who have been making headlines for all the wrong reasons in recent weeks.
Club chiefs were unhappy that star striker Kylian Mbappe was allowed to travel to Italy with his girlfriend while recovering from a recent hamstring injury, before news broke of an alleged altercation between Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni during training.
Valverde was hospitalised after the incident, after he reportedly slipped and hit his head on a table. Real Madrid confirmed he had suffered a head injury but insisted the injury was not caused by his teammate. Both players were fined €500,000 (£432,000) following the incident, though neither of them suffered a sporting sanction.
This has all been played out amid continued speculation over the managerial position at the Bernabéu, with believed to be in line for a shock return to his former club. It is understood that the 63-year-old is in final negotiations over becoming Real Madrid's head coach this summer, 13 years after his first spell.
Earlier this week, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez also called for fresh presidential elections and hit out at an 'organised campaign' against his leadership. The 79-year-old challenged any rivals to beat him in the polls and insisted he was still the right man for the job.
Real Madrid will finish the season without a major trophy for the second year in a row. Bellingham is not the only one who should be apologising.
