Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has dropped another player from one of his matchday squads – and reports suggest he is not injured.

Since arriving at the start of November, Amorim has not been afraid to make some bold decisions when it comes to squad selection.

Marcus Rashford has missed the last four games [including Wolves] as the Portuguese continues to drop United's academy product, who recently said he was ready for a new challenge.

Alejandro Garnacho also missed out on the Manchester derby, which sparked plenty of debate around his application in training and beyond.

Speaking about his decision to drop both Garnacho and Rashford for the City game, Amorim emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards at "one of the biggest clubs in the world."

And now, it appears another United player has been dropped for a Premier League fixture.

As per Manchester Evening News reporter Samuel Luckhurst, Tyrell Malacia's absence for the clash against Wolves on Thursday is not down to injury.

The 25-year-old full-back, who signed for United from Feyenoord in 2022 for around £15 million, missed over a year of action after undergoing surgery on a knee injury last summer.

He started their clash against Bournemouth on Sunday but was replaced at half-time by Leny Yoro.

So far, Amorim has made a total of 42 changes since taking over at Old Trafford but on Thursday, he made just two, with Rasmus Hojlund and Yoro replacing Joshua Zirkzee and Malacia in his starting XI.

Manchester United's line-up for their Boxing Day clash against Wolves:

Andre Onana, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Diogo Dalot, Amad Diallo, Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to Amorim's latest decision.

One said: "Malacia not in the matchday squad today, and it's NOT due to injury. Twice subbed off at half-time, and dropped today despite being the only available natural LB. You just know he's not cutting it under Ruben Amorim."

A second wrote: "He has not looked good in that lwb ever since returning. So it was expected," and a third commented: "I think he need to send on loan to get his fitness and form back."

A fourth said: "To be fair, he’s been very poor since coming back. Really like that Amorim isn’t afraid to drop underperforming players," while a fifth added: "Love how ruthless Ruben is finally a proper manager."
