Manchester United fans have slammed Ruben Amorim for his embarrassing comments after the drab draw with Wolves on Tuesday night.
United looked to close out 2025 with a second consecutive home win after beating Newcastle at the weekend.
A visit of bottom club Wolves, a team United beat comfortably at Molineux not too long ago, presented the perfect opportunity and the Red Devils went 1-0 up in the first half through a deflected Joshua Zirkzee strike.
Despite finding the net, the Dutchman was hooked for 18-year-old youngster Jack Fletcher at half-time in a tactical change as they tried to get to grips with Wolves' outnumbering them in midfield.
United were pegged back shortly before half-time when Ladislav Krejci headed home from a corner and could not find a second, with Patrick Dorgu having a winner ruled out late on after straying offside.
Amorim's side could not beat bottom club Wolves, who have lost 16 times in the Premier League. Devoid of any creativity without Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount, United were booed off by a section of supporters after another disappointing result and display at home.
There has been a pattern emerging in United's performances at home but Amorim baffled fans by claiming the Wolves game was "completely different" as they "had full control of the game".
Amorim reacts to Man United draw
"I think against Everton we clearly underperformed," Amorim said in his press conference.
"West Ham, we had some lack of creation but we have our chances. Bournemouth, we had the advantage three times, so it's the details, it was not offensively, was not the creation of chances. We had the game, we had full control of the game. Today was completely different.
"Newcastle, we struggled but we managed to win at home. I think this year I don't feel that, I feel the support of the fans when we are here, I feel that they want to play at home, I feel that we are dominant at home."
Naturally, United fans called out the comments from their manager online.
One replied on X: "Control of the game? They had a higher xG than us and looked more likely to get a winning goal!
A second agreed: "What game was he watching? how were we in control of the game if mané bossed the entire midfield?"
A third commented: "'We were in control of the game'? Brother, which game? Man Utd in control of a game?"
A final user said: "In control of the game ??? He's absolutely lost it !!! We did NOT have any sort of control over that game in any way shape or form. #AmorimOut."
United missed out on the chance to move up to fourth in the Premier League and will end the year in sixth on 30 points with eight wins, six draws and five defeats.

"I'm really confident," Amorim added.
"We just need to recover all the players and I'm really confident," he said. "I don't know what is going to happen until the end of the season.
"Then we will make the resume of the season, but I'm really confident when we recover all the players that we are going to be a strong team. There is no doubt in my mind."
United are back in action on Sunday when they take on Leeds United in an early kick-off at Elland Road.
