Jadon Sancho makes transfer decision after 44 days without a club following Man Utd exit

Jadon Sancho has made a key decision over the identity of his next club, according to a new report - over a month since he was released by Manchester United.

Sancho's contract came to an end on June 30 and he left Old Trafford after five years at the club.

The 26-year-old had spent the last two seasons on loan at Chelsea and Aston Villa respectively, meaning there was never any realistic expectation that United would offer him a new deal.

Villa had an option to buy him permanently at the end of his loan spell after they won the Europa League last season, but declined to take up that option.

Sancho was spotted training at 10th-tier non-league side Flixton FC earlier this month as he looks to maintain his fitness ahead of joining a new club.

Aside from that, though, there have been relatively few updates about which club he could sign for next.

Sancho makes key transfer call

BBC Sport are now reporting that Sancho has received offers from several unnamed Premier League clubs ahead of the start of the 2026/27 season.

However, it is claimed that the winger would prefer to move to a club abroad, with Borussia Dortmund specifically stated as a club that are believed to hold interest in signing him.

A third stint at Dortmund could beckon for the England international, who last played for his country in 2021.

Speaking on talkSPORT, German football expert Kevin Hatchard claimed that there was a 'willingness' among senior figures at Dortmund to do a deal but suggested that any movement would happen later in the transfer window.

In terms of other options, Serie A side Roma made a £20 million offer to sign Sancho last summer, and the 26-year-old could become an option for the Serie A giants again after they missed out on Crysencio Summerville, who left West Ham to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in a deal worth an eye-watering initial fee of £55 million.

He has also been linked with fellow Italian side Fiorentina.

Though Sancho ultimately didn't sign for Villa at the end of last season, it appeared clear that he enjoyed his time in the west Midlands under Unai Emery's management.

"It's my team-mates and my manager that have been giving me that confidence and belief," he said in an interview with TNT Sports back in March.

"My team-mates have been very good to me. I feel like I can do more, because I know myself. But apart from that, I'm just happy that the team is doing well, and we're in a good position.

"Obviously when you have a captain like John McGinn, you already know the vibes. John has been great with me since day one, so big shout out to John for that."
