Martin Brundle forced to awkwardly cut short Jose Mourinho interview during Spanish GP grid walk
Martin Brundle was forced to awkwardly cut short his interview with Jose Mourinho during his grid walk at the Spanish Grand Prix on Sunday afternoon.
The Sky Sports pundit was in the final seconds of his live pre-race segment at the MADRING Sur when he spotted the Real Madrid manager and headed over for an impromptu chat.
Mourinho was in good spirits as he spoke about his desire to attend the new Portuguese Grand Prix next year, before he was abruptly cut off mid-sentence in what proved to be an awkward end to the exchange.

Brundle began his brief chat with Mourinho by congratulating the manager on his side's 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano over the weekend before switching the focus back to Formula 1 and the upcoming race.

Mourinho was asked for his opinion of the new Madrid circuit, which is located right next to Real Madrid's training facility, when their conversation was suddenly interrupted.
"This is right next to where I work, to my training ground," the former Chelsea manager began. "I pass here every day and I saw the evolution of the track. So it meant something for us. And I drove in here, it's very interesting..."
Before he could continue his answer, Brundle pulled the microphone away from the legendary manager as Sky Sports prepared to broadcast the Spanish national anthem, which had just begun playing in the background.

Real Madrid stars attend Spanish Grand Prix
Mourinho was joined by several members of the Real Madrid first-team squad for the inaugural F1 event at the new MADRING Sur circuit.
The Portuguese coach was seen alongside a group of players including Eder Militao, Denzel Dumfries and summer signing Yan Diomande during his interview, while Thibaut Courtois and Jude Bellingham also spoke to Brundle earlier in the grid walk.
Bellingham earned plenty of praise for his appearance, speaking passionately about his interest in the sport while humbly admitting that he still had plenty to learn about it.
"I've been with Mercedes, and I've met George and Kimi. They've been telling us about it. I've got to act like I understand, but the levels that those guys are operating at, in terms of the strategy and all those things... they're just at a different level," the England international said.
Brundle then recalled how difficult he found operating the 29 buttons on the steering wheel when he stepped into a modern F1 car.
"It's unbelievable," Bellingham replied. "I mean, I'm used to a PlayStation controller, and these guys are whipping out these things with 40 buttons. Credit to them, the work they put in, they deserve everything they get.
"The thing that I most admire is that the poise of them all is really impressive, you know."
