Ruben Amorim could be working with a new-look Manchester United side in the coming months after it emerged that the club want to sign four more players following the arrival of Matheus Cunha.

After triggering his £62.5 million release clause, United announced the £62.5 million arrival of Cunha this week – an impressive sign of intent as they look to rebuild.

Cunha, who scored 17 goals across all competitions for Wolves last season, will certainly add some much-needed attacking flair to a team bereft of confidence in that area of the pitch.

But the Reds have other attacking options in mind as they embark on a busy period. In fact, they want to sign two more forwards this summer, including Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo, who is keen to join Amorim's project.

A report from The Manchester Evening News claims United would like to get a deal for Mbuemo 'wrapped up' in time for pre-season training at the start of July.

Earlier this month, United submitted a bid of £45 million and £10 million in add-ons for Mbuemo, but the offer fell short of Brentford's valuation. It is said they value the player in excess of £60 million.

As well as Mbeumo, United want to land a prolific centre-forward. After missing out on Liam Delap, the club continue to be linked with Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen, although outgoings 'will be required' to fund the addition, as per MEN.

Amorim may also have a new midfielder in his ranks come the start of the season as they want to replace Christian Eriksen, who will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the month.

Casemiro is also entering the final year of his deal and, according to the previously mentioned report, the Brazilian could be sold following a failure to qualify for Europe next season. Kobbie Mainoo's future is also uncertain.

Finally, United are also keen on signing a goalkeeper to challenge Andre Onana, with Altay Bayindir being linked with a move to Turkish side Besiktas.

One thing is for sure; United will back Amorim with a number of signings in the summer. Last month, the club's chief executive officer Omar Berrada said they have a plan in place for an ambitious transfer window.

“I can’t talk about specifics, but I can say that we’ve been planning for many months now,” he told MUTV. “We were ready for all the different scenarios, so now we know what we need to do.

“We have a very clear idea of where we need to invest in the squad to improve, so (technical director) Jason (Wilcox), his team, Ruben have been in talks for many months.

“Now it’s a question of executing that plan and doing it in a way that is prudent but at the same time with ambition.”
