Manchester United have reportedly made a major decision regarding their ideal replacement for Ruben Amorim.
On Monday, United made the shock announcement that they had decided to part ways with manager Amorim less than 24 hours after his controversial post-match comments following the 1-1 draw with Leeds United.
The Portuguese manager led United for 63 games, winning 24 matches, drawing 18 while losing on 21 occasions, meaning he leaves the club with the worst win ratio (31.9%) of any permanent manager.
Since his dismissal, rumours regarding Amorim's replacement have linked several different names with the job with club legend Darren Fletcher taking over of the current interim appointment.

And now, the club have reportedly decided exactly who they want to appoint as their long-term replacement for Amorim this summer.

After the disappointing results against Leeds United, Amorim claimed that he joined Manchester United to be their manager, not their head coach, and appeared to suggest that he would leave the club when his contract ended.
A heated meeting with Jason Wilcox, United's director of football, reportedly followed the comments and eventually led to the 40-year-old being dismissed.
Several managers could replace Amorim in the United dugout, but according to The Athletic, club officials are looking to appoint a manager with Premier League experience to succeed Amorim in the long-term.

The likes of Oliver Glasner, who is widely expected to leave Crystal Palace when his contract expires in the summer, Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola, Enzo Maresca, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino are all believed to be in the running.
It is believed that appointing a caretaker manager until the summer will put United in the best position as they can consider managers who will only be available after the World Cup and those out of contract.

The news comes amid a report from The Sun that United are also considering Fulham boss Marco Silva, who is yet to give any response to a contract extension offered to him back in November.
Siva's current deal with Fulham is set to finish in the summer but the club are eager to keep him in charge and therefore offered him a new three-and-a-half-year contract.
The Portuguese manager was previously linked to the United job before Amorim took it in November 2024.
