Christos Tzolis was compared to former Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez as he announced himself to the Emirates faithful with a superb individual display against newly-promoted Coventry.
The 24-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Belgian side Club Brugge in July for £34 million, made an immediate impact on his competitive Arsenal debut, setting up two goals in the Community Shield last weekend.
He was rewarded with a start against Coventry on Friday night and soon repaid Mikel Arteta's faith by assisting Bukayo Saka, who made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute after some great wing play from Tzolis.
It was an impressive display from Tzolis, with many fans heaping praise on the versatile winger, who has now registered a goal or assist in 21 of his past 22 appearances at club level.

Fans went as far as comparing him to former Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez, with some mentioning their similar posture, running style and build when discussing his impact on the game in North London.
One wrote: "Tzolis is a proper Alexis Sánchez regen. The explosiveness, direct running, fearlessness and that constant desire to attack defenders… there are serious Sánchez vibes here. It’s still early, but this guy looks like a nightmare for Premier League defenders."

A second commented: "Tzolis is giving Alexis Sanchez-kind of vibes," and a third said: "Tzolis my word what a great debut. Reminds me so much of Alexis Sanchez actually."
A fourth wrote: "Tzolis is a perfect mix between Alexis Sanchez and Marc Overmars. Quite something," and a fifth added: "Tzolis is a Sanchez regen. Look at the movement."
Mikel Arteta gives fascinating insight into Christos Tzolis' style of play
Tzolis was signed to replace Leandro Trossard, which was no mean feat given how influential the Belgian was during Arsenal's Premier League-winning campaign in 2025-26.
However, the winger has so far flourished under the hard to impress Mikel Arteta, who was full of praise for Tzolis following their win over Manchester City in the Community Shield.
“He has adjusted to the squad and team so quickly and naturally. He is a player that makes good decisions when a lot of people tend to rush and make wrong decisions," said Arteta.
“He is very, very smart, very accurate and today in tight spaces he made the correct decision twice and we scored two goals.
“To play at the level that we did so early in the season, to show the desire that we showed, I was really impressed. I said to my players, I really enjoyed watching them play.”
