Man Utd Summoned to Meeting Over Outrageous Comment From Youngster While on Loan

A former United youth coach opened up about what caused the awkward encounter.

A former Manchester United staff member has revealed that the club were called into a meeting with another Premier League club after an incident involving a loan player and manager.

Manchester United have a longstanding tradition of developing young players to use them in the first team at the Red Devils or sell them to another club.

An academy product has been named in every matchday squad since October 30, 1937, with the tradition now approaching the 89-year mark.

Several top players have learned their trade at United’s academy, namely the Class of ’92 - David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt – who helped Sir Alex Ferguson’s United to success throughout the 1990s and early to mid 2000s.

More recently, Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, and Kobbie Mainoo have been the standout players produced by United's world-renowned academy, while several others have gone on to forge careers in the game.

However, in recent weeks, some supporters have been disappointed with current head coach Ruben Amorim’s attitude towards the academy, as Mainoo has yet to start a single match in the Premier League this term.

Meanwhile, the Portuguese also appeared to call out three other youngsters in his press conference ahead of the 4-4 draw against Bournemouth on December 15.

When answering a question about why Mainoo has not been loaned out, he homed in on Harry Amass, Chido Obi, and Toby Collyer and said the former was “struggling in the Championship” while on loan to Sheffield Wednesday.

Amass then posted a photograph of himself holding the club’s Player of the Month award for November on his story.

Amorim has also spoken about some youngsters feeling “entitled”.

And it appears that this wasn’t the first time a young player at United and a manager haven’t seen eye to eye.

In a recent interview with the Mail, former loans manager for United Les Parry opened up about an incident involving an on-loan United youngster and another Premier League manager.

He recalled being summoned to the Premier League rival for a meeting because a youngster, who was on loan at the club from United, shouted, ‘What time do you call this?’ when the manager arrived late to the training ground.

“He was 18,” said Parry. “You had international players in there who’d played 200 games in the Premier League. Just keep your mouth shut and get on with it.”

It is unclear who the player was.

Another incident involved a United loanee making his League One debut, with the player supposedly interrupting the manager’s half-time team talk to tell his new teammates to give him the ball.
