Former Man Utd player tips club to finish ABOVE Arsenal if they complete two major summer signings

United finished the 2024/25 Premier League season in 15th place while Arsenal finished 2nd behind champions Liverpool.

A former Manchester United player has tipped the club to finish above Arsenal next season, but only if they sign two players.

Ruben Amorim’s Man United and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal both endured disappointing 2024/25 campaigns.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League – a record low – while Arsenal finished second behind runaway leaders and now champions Liverpool.

Amorim also saw his side lose the Europa League final against Spurs while the Gunners crashed out of the Champions League at the semi-finals stage to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain.

And so, both clubs have big summers ahead and will be looking to improve their squads.

On June 20, The Athletic reported that Martin Zubimendi was in London to meet Arsenal officials and complete his proposed move from Real Sociedad.

Arteta’s side has also been linked with Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Meanwhile, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, Reece Clairmont, Khayon Edwards, Jakai Fisher, Romari Forde, Jimi Gower, Jack Henry-Francis, Max Kuczynski, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand, Ismail M’Hand, Brian Okonkwo, Elian Quesada-Thorn and Zacariah Shuaib were all released.

Raheem Sterling and Neto saw their loan spells come to an end.

Thomas Partey’s future remains unclear, with his contract set to expire at the end of June.

And despite the gap in league positions during the 2024/25 campaign, one former United player thinks the Red Devils can finish above the Gunners if they sign two players.

“If United get Mbeumo and Gyokeres, they’ll finish above Arsenal next season facts,” said former United left-back Demetri Mitchell in a post on X.

Of course, Arsenal are widely reported to be Gyokeres’ first-choice club, while Bryan Mbeumo looks set to move on from Brentford this summer amid speculation that both United and Spurs are interested.

Earlier this month, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported that “Bryan Mbeumo has decided he wants to join Manchester United, and the Old Trafford club is set to open talks with Brentford as they pursue an agreement to sign the forward this summer”.

United later submitted a bid worth £45m plus £10m add-ons, but no such deal has been completed at this time.

Of course, Brazil international Matheus Cunha completed a £62.5 million move from Wolves earlier this month.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony have also been linked with departures, while Alejandro Garancho has reportedly been told to find a new club by Amorim.

Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof have all been released after the club decided against renewing their current contracts.
