Ruben Amorim Blocks Man Utd Player From Leaving the Club With Two-Word Message

The player in question is currently way down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has reportedly told a player that he will not be allowed to leave the club in January, despite him supposedly requesting a move.

Amorim headed into the November international break a relieved man with his Man United side currently on a run of five games without defeat.

United sit seventh in the Premier League after wins over Sunderland, Liverpool, and Brighton, as well as successive draws against Nottingham Forest and, most recently, Spurs.

Summer signings Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Senne Lammens have improved United’s squad, with all three performing well under Amorim, while fellow recruit Benjamin Sesko has shown glimpses of quality without truly settling into English football.

And there finally seems to be several reasons for positivity at Old Trafford after what was a dismal opening month to the campaign.

For now, talk of Amorim’s departure has wavered, but the same can’t be said for a want-away player who has hardly featured this term.

Out-of-favour forward Joshua Zirkzee has made just four league appearances out of a possible 11 so far this campaign, with recent reports suggesting he is keen to leave the club in January.

Since arriving at United from Serie A’s Bologna for £36.5 million in 2024, the Netherlands international has registered just seven goals and three assists in 54 appearances.

Zirkzee has supposedly made it clear that he’s keen on a move – whether that be a loan or permanent switch – in January as he still has ambitions of making the Dutch squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

To achieve this, he needs to be playing regular first-team football rather than warming the bench like he has been at United.

The 24-year-old, who is contracted to United until 2029, has been linked with several clubs across Europe, including West Ham United, Everton, and AS Roma, but he may yet be forced to stay at United after all.

The Sun’s Samuel Luckhurst claims that Zirkzee has been told that there is “no chance” of a departure this winter, with Amorim likely to block a deal due to Mbeumo, Amad, and Noussair Mazraoui all temporarily leaving United for up to four weeks while they compete at the Africa Cup of Nations, which commences on December 21.

The final takes place on January 18.

Zirkzee has not started a game for United since April and will be hopeful that his teammates’ absences result in some gametime for him.
