Bryan Mbeumo Trying to Persuade 'Little Brother' to Join Man Utd in Huge Transfer

The Manchester United forward joined the club from Brentford in the summer.

Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly been ‘trying to persuade’ another Premier League star to sign for the Red Devils while on international duty with Cameroon.

Mbeumo, 26, signed for Man United from Brentford for a fee in excess of £70million during the summer transfer window, having impressed during his time with the Bees.

The France-born Cameroon international has since registered two goals and one assist in his eight United appearances and will be hoping to return to his best when the Premier League resumes this weekend.

The 26-year-old was one of six players Ruben Amorim welcomed to the club ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, alongside Matheus Cunha, Enzo Kana-Biyik, Senne Lammens, Diego Leon and Benjamin Sesko.

And despite having been away on international duty this week, Mbeumo was still reportedly trying to help his club.

A report from The Sun claims that the Cameroon forward has been trying to convince Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba to join him at Old Trafford.

The outlet claims that Mbeumo is like a “big brother” to the 21-year-old Seagulls man and has encouraged him to push for a move during the winter transfer window.

Baleba, who is contracted to Brighton until June 2026, is reportedly valued at around £100m by the south coast club, while United would likely want to offer a lower fee closer to £70m.

Earlier this month, Brighton owner Tony Bloom admitted there had been “interest from Manchester United” in the summer when he spoke to The Argus.

“I don’t think Baleba was a saga,” Bloom said.

“There was interest from Manchester United, and we said that he wasn't available this summer, and they went away.

“So we've had many bigger sagas in the past.

“But Carlos Baleba, his improvement has been immense.”

Defensive midfielder Baleba would arguably provide balance in United’s midfield, with Amorim opting for a central pairing of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in the early part of this season – although this partnership appears to be a makeshift fix rather than the ideal pairing.

Baleba joined Brighton from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in August 2023, and he has since made 86 appearances for the side, helping them finish eighth last term.
