Diego Costa Takes Out Female Former Chelsea Player With Bruising Tackle In Training

The former Chelsea striker was a force to be reckoned with during his time in the Premier League.

A clip of Diego Costa appearing to shoulder barge a former Chelsea women’s player in a training session is circulating online.

Costa, now 37, was one of the best strikers in Europe during his playing days.

The Brazilian, who represented both Brazil and Spain at international level, enjoyed spells at top clubs such as La Liga side Atlético Madrid and Chelsea, with whom he won two Premier League titles in 2014/15 and 2016/17 as well as the 2015 League Cup.

The 37-year-old netted 59 times for the west London club, but it was arguably his aggressive playing style for which he is most remembered.

Costa left Chelsea in 2017 after a fall out with then-head coach Antonio Conte, before going on to return to Premier League action with Wolves in the 2022/23 campaign.

Last week, he returned to Stamford Bridge to take part in a charity match between Chelsea and Liverpool Legends.

And it didn’t take long for Costa and former Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel to become involved in a feud.

Costa did not take kindly to the Slovakian’s harsh challenge and just minutes later smashed into the back of him.

But the pair appeared to make up after the game, with Costa posting a photograph on Instagram alongside the former Liverpool man.

The away side ran out 1-0 winners thanks to Ryan Babel’s late strike.

More footage has since emerged of Costa training ahead of the match, and it’s fair to say he makes no exceptions when on the pitch.

The video showed Costa charging towards former Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and England women forward Gemma Davison before shoulder barging her to the ground.

Former Chelsea skipper John Terry can be heard shouting, “That’s a yellow that,” shortly after.

Terry also features in the social media video.

“That’s Diego in a nutshell, just doesn't give a s***,” Terry explained in the clip.

The former Chelsea defender then revealed that he later spoke to Davison, and she said: “I love all that,” when discussing the incident.

Despite currently being without a club, Costa has not yet announced his official retirement from football, having last played for Brazilian side Gremio in 2024.

Fans were quick to react to the clip on social media.

One said: “Oh, he held on to her jersey to break the fall so she doesn't get hurt, that's very sweet by his standards.”

Another added: “Watching Diego Costa play feels like a glitch in the matrix because no one moves or scores like that on purpose. You can try to copy him but you’ll just end up looking clumsy and frustrated.”

While a third claimed: “Bro still thinks every training drill is a Champions League final.”
