Chelsea players were reportedly furious with Liam Rosenior over his lack of use of one player in his time at the club.
Appointed in January after Enzo Maresca's departure, Rosenior was sacked by the Blues after losing five Premier League games in a row without scoring.
The 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday, where Chelsea didn't have a single shot on target, means the west London outfit are now in seventh position - seven points behind the Champions League places.
After the game, Rosenior publicly disagreed with defender Trevoh Chalobah's take on the Brighton loss in a move that likely did not go down too well the squad.

An inside report from the BBC, published prior to the sacking, claims that Chelsea stars had already lost faith in Rosenior for a number of different reasons.
The article states that a "number of players are understood to be unconvinced" by Rosenior, with senior players said to be quiet in regular team meetings.

The regular rotation of goalkeepers has not gone down well with members of the squad, with Rosenior swapping between Robert Sanchez and Filip Jorgensen.
But another point of contention was the situation involving Josh Acheampong, who struggled for regular gametime under the 41-year-old.
It's said his limited minutes "caused some discontent" amongst frustrated members of the group.
Defender Acheampong featured frequently under Maresca but has seen his minutes drop under Rosenior and he has played a total of 12 minutes in the run which brought five successive defeats.
The 19-year-old could now be given a new lease of life under interim boss Calum McFarlane, who returns to the role for the second time this season after stepping up from the Under 21's.
Announcing the sacking of Rosenior, Chelsea said: "Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior.
"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.
"Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.
"This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season. "Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future.
"Calum McFarlane will take charge of the team as Interim Head Coach until the end of the season with support from existing Club backroom staff, as we strive to achieve European qualification and progress in the FA Cup.
"As the Club works to bring stability to the Head Coach position, we will undertake a process of self-reflection to make the right long-term appointment."
Meanwhile, RMC Sport claim that Chelsea have already made contact with Andoni Iraola, who has already confirmed he will be leaving Bournemouth at the end of the season after doing a stellar job at the Vitality Stadium.
