Manchester United summer signing Matheus Cunha may have received a gift when he completed his £62.5m move from Wolves earlier this month.
Cunha, 26, penned a five-year deal with an option of a further year, earlier this month and became Ruben Amorim’s first signing of the summer.
Upon the completion of the transfer, Cunha explained how joining Man United was a dream come true.

“It is the most common phrase that you can say at this moment, but this is the dream come true,” Cunha told the club’s official website.
“My house didn’t have the channel to watch the Premier League. My cousin’s house didn’t have the channel. He’s older than me and he supports United, and he showed me the way, to start to watch the Premier League and to need to support United.

“Only in my grandma’s house, we can watch the Premier League, so we organised to go every weekend.

“And for me, it was always a bit inside of me, this club. When I play with him in the street, on the beach, on the gravel pitch, we called these pitches ‘Old Trafford’. Imagine!
“So, wow, it’s so hard to be here now, thinking about the past — it’s very emotional for me.”
Of course, Cunha will be paid handsomely for his efforts at United, with The Telegraph reporting that his salary has risen from £120,000 per week to £200,000 per week, making him the fourth highest earner at the club based on Capology’s information.
But alongside a healthy bank balance, United players also receive a ‘welcome gift’ when they join the Premier League giants.

In 2024, United’s Director of Academy, Nick Cox, revealed how new signings receive a club blazer when he appeared on the Fozcast.

Cox said: “The blazer, it’s a small detail, but it seems to ripple through every environment that we go to… with the United crest on, it’s not a difficult thing to do.
“But it seems to impress people. More importantly for us than it being about standards and discipline, it’s actually a tribute to everyone who has worn the blazer before. So… our youth programme has real strong connections to how this football club survived the war.

“We came back from the war because we had a youth programme of young players. We survived Munich because of young players, and we’ve won European Cups because of young players.
“And there’s a real pride in anybody that’s pulled on a United blazer."
