Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to return to Manchester United amid reports over his future at Al Nassr.

Ronaldo left United in November 2022 after his contract was terminated, before signing for Al Nassr at the beginning of January 2023.

The 39-year-old has a contract with the Saudi Pro League side until the summer of 2025, although reports indicate that there is a willingness from the club to extend that further.

After 35 goals in 31 Saudi Pro League games last season - a tally which helped him become the top goalscorer of 2023 across selected top European leagues - Ronaldo has started this campaign strongly with six goals in eight games.

But according to Action Ma3 Waleed (via SPORT), a rival Saudi Arabian club wants to sign him.

It is claimed that Al Hilal are considering whether to terminate the contract of Brazil star Neymar in January, despite the 31-year-old recently returning to action after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The report adds that the club are 'dreaming' of signing Ronaldo in his place, although the Portugal legend told Now in August that Al Nassr would 'probably' be his last club before retirement.

However, former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has floated the possibility of Ronaldo joining up with United once countryman Ruben Amorim takes charge on November 11.

Amorim is a former international team-mate of Ronaldo, having collected 14 caps between 2010 and 2014. The pair are also the same age - which perhaps makes current Sporting boss Amorim's managerial achievements thus far even more impressive.

But Sheringham also admits that it is unlikely that Ronaldo would return to Old Trafford - particularly if it were to be in a coaching capacity.

He told Flashscore: "Cristiano Ronaldo would be very welcome back at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

"But he is on to bigger and better things. I think Ronaldo will follow in the path of David Beckham in doing things away from coaching, higher profile things around the world.

"I'm sure he'd be very, very welcome in any capacity coming back to the club, but I doubt that he'll be a coach."
