Liverpool reportedly face a quick turnaround to complete a deal for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, with another club said to still be hopeful of hijacking the move.
After two stellar seasons with Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz has been heavily linked with a number of leading European sides but recent reports indicated that Liverpool had won the race for his signature.
But just when a deal for Wirtz looked to be on the verge of completion along with a move for his teammate Jeremie Frimpong, it's emerged that the transfer is not a foregone conclusion just yet.

Although it's claimed Wirtz has agreed personal terms for a lucrative five-year contract, The Sun say a fee is still yet to be agreed with Leverkusen - who are said to have rejected a bid of £86 million as they want £106 million up front as well as around in £20 million in performance-related add-ons.
The report, published on Wednesday evening, goes on to add that Wirtz wants an agreement to be reached before he heads off to international duty with Germany.
He is due to link up with Julian Naglesmann's national team on Thursday ahead of a UEFA Nations League semi-final clash with Portugal next Wednesday and so Liverpool must act quickly.

Liverpool could still be usurped in Florian Wirtz pursuit
Though Bayern Munich and Manchester City appear to be well out of the conversation, a report from AS states that Real Madrid are not and that the possibility of signing Wirtz "still has a thread of life".

While Liverpool are still firmly in the driving seat, it's suggested that Los Blancos are "not throwing the towel" and "the game could still be on".
Real could still yet to swoop in and dent Liverpool another blow after prising Trent Alexander-Arnold away on an expected free transfer, with his contract expiring at the end of June.
Real could still have a slight advantage in the race as Wirtz could link up with former manager Xabi Alonso, who got the best out of him at Leverkusen and has signed on to replace Carlo Ancelotti as the new man in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.
