Liverpool are reportedly ready to sell one star as the Florian Wirtz transfer saga finally comes to an end.

It's now just four days until the transfer window opens, and Liverpool have already been busy ensuring that they are ready to make some big deals over the summer.

Within the first couple of days of the window, the Reds are expected to complete the signings of Bayer Leverkusen pair Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, who are set to finalise their deals in the coming days.

However, it appears that Liverpool have also been busy considering which of their players will be sold in the transfer window, with several stars linked with a move away.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown explained that Liverpool view the 28-year-old as a sellable asset who could be used to fund transfers for the likes of Frimpong and Wirtz.

He said: “Liverpool are prepared to let Diaz go if they bring in a replacement.

“Liverpool have always been open to letting him go, but they needed a replacement first because they didn’t want to lose him without somebody coming in.

“It’s one thing deciding that you can improve on a player and need something better, but it’s another thing bringing in somebody who’s better.

“They’ve been working in the background for a while to identify these replacements and it looks like they’ve settled on Florian Wirtz.

“It’s a huge deal for them, so they’ll be pushing to get it over the line. That will then allow them to let other players leave and clear a bit of space in the squad.”

According to Brown, Barcelona are just one of the clubs hat are considering making a move for Diaz over the transfer window, with the La Liga giants linked with several wingers including United's Marcus Rashford.

Diaz made 50 appearances for the Reds this season across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and assisting eight.
