England beat Germany with a goal in extra time in Saturday's European Under-21 Championship final in Bratislava and the tournament's top player has been targeted for a surprise summer transfer.
Liverpool creative midfielder Harvey Elliott was already in demand before he opened the scoring in the final with a confident finish into the bottom corner, his fifth goal in a competition he departed as both a champion and the Player of the Tournament.
Elliott was in superb form throughout the European Championship and played in his second successive final under back-to-back champion manager Lee Carsley.

But his opportunities under Arne Slot were limited in Liverpool's title-winning Premier League campaign and any rival clubs wavering in their taste for the 22-year-old will have emphatically made up their minds after an impressive June in the spotlight.
Aston Villa, Brighton & Hove Albion and former club Fulham are all among the many English clubs credited with an interest in Elliott but there could be a shock Reds reunion on the cards in the form of a move abroad.
According to reports, Bundesliga side RB Leipzig are in pursuit of the attacking midfielder and ex-Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, Red Bull's Global Head of Soccer, is 'personally' involved in the quest.

Elliott joined Liverpool from the Cottagers in 2019 and worked under Klopp for four years either side of a spell on loan at Blackburn Rovers.
TBR Football reports that "Klopp is keen to be reunited with Harvey Elliott and is ready to raid his former club for the England attacker."
Elliott isn't exactly itching to leave Anfield after helping Liverpool to claim their second title of the Premier League era but is understood to be prepared to move if the right opportunity presents itself and the Reds' reported asking price of £40 million is met.

The England Under-21 star appeared in 18 league matches in 2024-25 but started only twice. He started three of Liverpool's domestic cup matches and once in the Champions League, scoring three times in five total appearances.
It would be a difficult parting of ways for Elliott, who is a lifelong Reds supporter.
Returning to the unapologetic embrace of his former manager, a Premier League and Champions League winner at Liverpool, could help ease the upheaval.
