A Premier League player has revealed that Kylian Mbappe calls him every two hours in a bid to tempt him to sign for Real Madrid.

Since Mbappe’s 2024 transfer from Paris Saint-Germain to Los Blancos, it’s fair to say he’s been a hit at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Overall, Real Madrid have arguably not been at their best, having failed to secure a major trophy since the Frenchman’s arrival, but from an individual standpoint, the 26-year-old has performed well, registering 62 goals and seven assists in 75 appearances for the La Liga giants.

Mbappe’s arrival in 2024 was followed by Carlo Ancelotti’s departure at the end of the season, before Xabi Alonso took charge of the club after the Italian undertook the Brazil job in the summer.

Several recruits also arrived in the Spanish capital, with Trent Alexander-Arnold signing from Liverpool.

Alvaro Carreras completed a move from Benfica, while centre-back Dean Huijsen made the switch from Premier League Bournemouth.

And with veteran centre-backs David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger both in the final year of their Real contracts, Alonso could soon be welcoming a new central defender to the club.

Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi is one name linked with a switch to Los Blancos, having also garnered interest from Liverpool, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona.

But it is another defender that Mbappe has reportedly been trying to persuade to trade life in England for a new adventure in Spain.

In September, Konate claimed that Mbappe is “calling me every two hours”, before adding that he doesn’t know any Spanish.

Of course, Konate has been the subject of interest from Real Madrid for some time, with his Liverpool contract set to run until the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Come January, and the 26-year-old will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, meaning he would effectively leave Liverpool for free.

During the current international break, Konate was pressed on his future by RMC, to which he replied: "I've seen a lot of things (smiles)! Liverpool have reportedly made me a new offer, I don't know where that information came from... My agents are still in discussions with Liverpool. I hope my decision will be made very soon so I can announce it."

Meanwhile, fellow France international and Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano is also heavily linked with Real Madrid amid uncertainty about his contract, which is set to expire in 2026. However, there has been talk of the potential that he will sign a new deal in Bavaria.
