The blockbuster exhibition bout between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr will happen without judges and so no winner will be declared unless there's a knockout.

Some of the rules for Tyson vs. Jones Jr have been revealed ahead of the boxing exhibition in California on September 12.

The pair of boxing legends have agreed to an eight-round clash and the bout can only be determined by a knockout with no judges scoring the contest.

They won't be wearing headgear, but will be wearing larger than normal gloves.

It has also been disclosed that the fight will be stopped if either fighter receives a cut, according to California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster.

Foster explained: "Tyson and Jones Jr won't be wearing headgear for the fight.

"They'll be lacing up 12-ounce gloves and there won't be any judges present at the fight to score the action.

"So, technically there won't be a winner unless a knockout somehow occurs. Or, either fighter is deemed unfit to continue."

He added: "They can move around and make some money, but I told them 'if you get cut, it's over.'"

'Iron' Mike had previously said: "The rules in California are that we must wear headgear.

"We're there to show our skills, and we're fighting. This is what I learned in boxing when I was a young boy.

"When you sign that contract, there is an unwritten clause in there that can die at any moment during training or fighting."

Tyson vs. Jones Jr is slated to take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, on September 12.
