Oleksandr Usyk's camp responds to Tyson Fury's callout after Anthony Joshua fight collapses

Oleksandr Usyk's camp have lashed out at Tyson Fury following his latest social media callout.

Despite several reassurances that the blockbuster British clash between Fury and Joshua will finally happen this year, the Gypsy King recently claimed that the fight was no longer going ahead.

In a video released on his social media, Fury claimed that the Joshua wasn't prepared to take the fight and instead called out former foe Usyk, prompting a brutal response from the Ukrainian's team.

In a video posted on social media, Fury said: "So, it looks like AJ has s*** his pants yet again. After 11 years, he's finally s*** his pants yet again, so this would only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk.

"Oleksandr, you're his trainer, and his sensei, and you know he's a weak-minded piece of s***, and that he'd never fight the Gypsy King - which you've had the guts to do twice...twice. And you know how difficult it is in there.

"Listen, you got the decisions last time, fair play to you, good luck to you. But let's do it again.

"Let's run it back in November. The ball is now in your court, Oleksandr. Do you want to fight me this year, in 2026? Or are you calling it quits?

Across both of Fury's previous meetings with Usyk, the British heavyweight was beaten soundly, losing via unanimous decision in both bouts.

Since then, Fury has claimed that he was 'robbed' by the judges and that a third fight was necessary to settle their rivalry, an idea that Usyk has admitted he would entertain ahead of what could be his final fight.

But, in a response to Fury's comments, Usyk's manager Sergey Lapin appeared to completely shut down Fury's hopes of a rematch, suggesting he look elsewhere for a new opponent.

"Usyk is not Tyson's backup plan," Lapin told Sky Sports News.

"If Fury needs an opponent, he should visit the Ready to Fight platform. They can help him find a worthy opponent there.

"Oleksandr is always open to big challenges. But serious intentions are backed by a concrete offer, not statements in the press."

In June, Usyk announced that he was vacating the three heavyweight belts he still held, but would not be retiring yet.

Since then, the unbeaten boxing legend has been working alongside Joshua as part of the Brit's training camp for the expected Fury fight later this year.

Therefore, it appears more likely that, if Uysk and Fury are to face off once again, it will happen as part of the build-up to the Joshua fight, should the Ukrainian continue to work with his former foe ahead of the bout.

Is Fury v Joshua still happening?

As it stands, it is not currently known how much of Fury's comments about the Joshua fight being off should be believed.

It would not be unlike the Gypsy King to make rash and bold statements on social media in an attempt to influence negotiations, with the Joshua bout currently held up over a disagreement about the fight venue.

Joshua's long-term promoter Eddie Hearn says he and his fighter want the contest to take place in London, while Fury claims that this is simply an excuse to dodge the fight.

Regardless, given that both fighters have signed individual contracts for the fight, it is still likely that the contest will take place at some point in the near future.
