Tyson Fury claims Anthony Joshua fight is off as he names next opponent

Tyson Fury has sensationally claimed that his long-awaited showdown with Anthony Joshua is off, just days after promoter Eddie Hearn said they were "running out of time" with negotiations.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ has made no secret of his frustration over the lack of confirmation surrounding a potential fight with Joshua.

Fury and Joshua looked set to finally go head-to-head but a dispute over the location has emerged as a potential stumbling block, with Saudi organisers Sela keen to stage the blockbuster fight in the United States.

Joshua and his team, meanwhile, want the contest to take place in the United Kingdom, a detail that was reportedly included in their fight contract.

Last week, Fury branded Joshua a "coward" and suggested the two-time heavyweight champion is "conning everybody" as talks continued.

And on Sunday evening, Fury took to his Instagram story to claim the proposed bout is no longer happening before calling for a trilogy with Oleksandr Usyk, who recently vacated his WBC, WBA and IBF titles.

"So, it looks like AJ has s*** his pants yet again. After 11 years, he's finally s*** his pants yet again, so this would only lead me to a fight with Oleksandr Usyk," Fury said.

"Oleksandr, you're his trainer, and his sensei, and you know he's a weak-minded piece of s***, and that he'd never fight the Gypsy King - which you've had the guts to do twice...twice. And you know how difficult it is in there.

"Listen, you got the decisions last time, fair play to you, good luck to you. But let's do it again.

"Let's run it back in November. The ball is now in your court, Oleksandr. Do you want to fight me this year, in 2026? Or are you calling it quits? Let me know, because I'm now looking for a new opponent."

Eddie Hearn made Wembley claim just days before Tyson Fury comments

As mentioned above, there has been a dispute over the fight's potential location.

Fury and his promoter, Frank Warren, were happy for the bout to be held outside of the UK after Turki Alalshikh and his Saudi backers pushed for New York's Madison Square Garden to host the event.

Eddie Hearn, meanwhile, refused to accept those terms, although it appeared on Friday (September 4) that he had made a breakthrough in negotiations.

Hearn issued an update on Instagram, which read: "I want to thank everyone for the unbelievable support! You have been heard, and talks have now reopened for Wembley. Let’s make history with one of the biggest sporting moments Britain has ever seen."
