Fans say ‘boxing is dead’ after BT reveal PPV price for Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury

Fans say ‘boxing is dead’ after BT reveal PPV price for Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury

Jake Paul will fight Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia at the end of the month

Boxing fans are outraged after finding out how much BT Sports will be charging for the upcoming fight between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury.

After nearly two years of on-and-off negotiations, the pair finally agreed on terms as they are set to battle it out inside the ring at the end of the month.

BT Sports have won the rights to broadcast the event live from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to viewers across the United Kingdom and Ireland.

However, fans are enraged by the fact that it will be shown on the BT Box Office channel, at a price of £19.95.

One fan said: “WTF it's PPV as well? Haha. Boxing is dead.”

Another tweeted: “World’s gone. Seriously. £19.95 used to get you AJ/Klitchscko, Brook/Golovkin, Froch/Groves - with cracking undercards too. It’s absolutely embarrassing.”

A third fan joked: “Bargain I would of easily paid £29.99 to see this.”

Someone else commented: “No thanks, you’re all right. I’m your typical casual boxing fan. But someone tuning into that calling it PPV or ‘Professional Boxing’ is appalling.”

Whilst a fifth person wrote: “It’s cheaper to watch 2 proper boxers fight than someone who hasn’t got a rating or someone who lives off his brother’s name worlds gone mad £19.99 for this the undercard has more potential.”

Ahead of the bout, the WBC has announced that Paul will receive a world ranking if he manages to get the better of Fury.

The American is feeling confident and has big ambitions for his boxing future.

He told Sky Sports: “I want to become a world champion. I'm going to become a world champion, and these fights are all just stepping stones to get there. I'm slowly improving.

“I've sparred against world champions and done phenomenal against them, so who knows what can happen in two to three years from now when I go into my athletic prime? I'm starting to really, really get this sport and all aspects of it.

“It's really actually scary what could possibly happen. I think not only will I become a world champion, I think I will be a dominant world champion and knock someone out for the belt.”

Who will win between Paul and Fury? Let us know in the comments.
