Mike Tyson vs Floyd Mayweather Fight Set To Include Unusual Rule

It was included in Mike Tyson's last two fights.

The exhibition between Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather could include an unusual rule.

Tyson and Mayweather have agreed to face each other in an exhibition bout in 2026.

The exact date, location and venue are still to be determined but the event will be put on by CSI Sports/Fight Sports.

As for the rules, that's also yet to be confirmed.

But judging by the 59-year-old's last two appearances in the ring, which include a professional boxing fight against Jake Paul and an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr., two-minute rounds could be installed rather than the traditional three-minute rounds.

Tyson requested two-minute rounds to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations for his fight against Paul, which was approved for their Arlington showdown.

And when he fought fellow great Jones Jr. in November 2020, it was contested over eight, two-minute rounds.

Given his age, Tyson will likely push for two-minute rounds against Mayweather.

Tyson's exhibition against Mayweather will be the second of his legendary career, having boxed Jones Jr in an exhibition bout back in November 2020.

As for 'Money', he has participated in a series of exhibitions since calling time on his illustrious professional career.

He has faced Tenshin Nasukawa, Logan Paul, Don Moore, Mikuru Asakura, Deji, Aaron Chalmers and John Gotti III (x2).

On facing Mayweather, Tyson said: "This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable - and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.

"I still can't believe Floyd wants to really do this," he added. "It's going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it's signed and it's happening!"

Mayweather added: "I've been doing this for 30 years and there hasn't been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy. You already know that if I am going to do something, it's going to be big and it’s going to be legendary. I'm the best in the business of boxing. This exhibition will give the fans what they want."
