Mike Tyson has revealed further details about his proposed bout against Floyd Mayweather during an interview with combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani.
Tyson, 59, and Mayweather, 49, are reportedly due to box in Africa on 25 April, although an official venue and date have yet to be confirmed.
The former heavyweight champion of the world retired from boxing following a defeat against Kevin McBride in 2005, when he was approaching his 39th birthday.
‘Iron Mike’ would remain out of the ring for almost 20 years before returning against Jake Paul in November 2024, with the social media personality turned boxer and promoter winning by unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, Mayweather has not fought as a professional since he defeated Conor McGregor by way of knockout back in 2017.
However, the unbeaten fighter, who boasts a record of 50 wins from as many bouts, has taken part in several exhibition contests against social media personalities such as Logan Paul and Deji since calling time on his professional career.
The Michigan-born fighter has also agreed to take on former foe Manny Pacquiao in a rematch of their 2015 bout in Las Vegas on 19 September.
But first, as previously mentioned, Mayweather will take on Tyson, with the latter discussing the rules in place and potential purses on offer during a recent interview with journalist Helwani.
Tyson revealed that he had already “signed for” the bout, which he said would “be going down in Africa”.
When asked if the bout was happening on 25 April, Tyson replied: “I believe so,” despite admitting that he had picked up a small injury.
Helwani then asked what weight the bout would be made at, to which the fighter responded: “It’s just free fighting, catchweight, everything.”
Tyson then explained how he believes the fight will be scheduled for eight rounds and that it will take place in the same ring that Muhammad Ali fought George Foreman back in 1974, with the event dubbed ‘The Rumble in the Jungle’.
According to the International Business Times, both fighters are expected to receive £15.3 million for their bout in April.
