The upcoming transfer battle for in-form Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres has taken a massive shock turn as he has reportedly changed his mind over his ideal move.

There are just three months until the transfer window reopens to kick off a summer of massive exciting moves in the Premier League.

Perhaps the biggest story of the window will revolved around a transfer at the top of the pitch, as several clubs are said to be interested in bringing a new striker into the team ahead of next season.

One striker that has been linked with a big move this summer is Sporting star Gyokeres, and a new report has claimed that he has had a surprising change of heart regarding his future plans.

Ever since current Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim left previous club Sporting to come to Old Trafford in November, rumours have began circulating that he could look to bring his former star player over to England in the near future.

Later reports have claimed that the Swedish international was eager to make the move when the transfer window opens this summer, but a new report has claimed otherwise.

According to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Gyokeres is now instead eyeing up a move to one of United's Premier League rivals, with Liverpool, Manchester City or Arsenal all under consideration.

The 26-year-old is currently under contract with Sporting until 2028, but it is claimed that the Portuguese club view his departure as an inevitability and therefore have named their price tag at €70million (£59.1m) despite Gyokeres' contract having a €100m (£84.4m) release clause.

However, Sporting will likely increase their asking price should several clubs formalise their interest in the star striker this summer.

Of the three clubs, the report adds that Manchester City are the least likely to launch a bid for Gyokeres after they signed Bundesliga superstar Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt for 70m euros (£59m) in January.

The report also claims that, although it would be the striker's preference to move to the Premier League, he is expected to have several options outside of England with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain also interested.

Gyokeres has scored an incredible 39 goals and registered nine assists across 40 appearances for Sporting so far this season.
