Popular Manchester United fan Mark Goldbridge has made his feelings about the club's new stadium clear with a brutal post on social media.

In a shock announcement on Tuesday morning, United confirmed that they would be building a new 100,000-seater stadium as the club's future home ground.

As details of the plans started to be released, conceptual images and scaled models designed by the architect Lord Norman Foster were revealed at Foster + Partners' headquarters in London.

Having seen the images online, United superfan Goldbridge has spoken out to let his feelings about the new design known, and he isn't happy.

The plan to build United's new stadium will also involve the possible creation of 92,000 new jobs, more than 17,000 new homes and allow for an additional 1.8 million visitors annually, bringing massive investment to the Old Trafford area.

But, this isn't enough to win over Goldbridge, who released a short but blunt statement on social media reacting to the images of the new stadium.

Posing on X, Goldbridge wrote: "I think it works well. Looks like a circus tent and we're run like one."

In another post, he added: "I've just seen the images of the new stadium.....Some will like it, some won't. Reminds me of the old Olympic stadium in Munich. Spiders web."

The possibility of redeveloping Old Trafford was explored by a task force made up of the likes of club legend Gary Neville and Olympic Games icon Sebastian Coe, but instead it has been decided that the current stadium will be demolished and make way for a modern replacement.

“Today marks the start of an incredibly exciting journey to the delivery of what will be the world’s greatest football stadium, at the centre of a regenerated Old Trafford,” said Sir Jim Ratcliffe in a statement.

“Our current stadium has served us brilliantly for the past 115 years, but it has fallen behind the best arenas in world sport.

“By building next to the existing site, we will be able to preserve the essence of Old Trafford, while creating a truly state-of-the-art stadium that transforms the fan experience only footsteps from our historic home."
