Fans have been reacting on social media after Fabrizio Romano dropped a bombshell on the Florian Wirtz transfer saga.

Over the last few weeks, Liverpool have been working around the clock to try and get a deal for Bayer Leverkusen star Wirtz over the line.

On Tuesday night, transfer specialist Romano confirmed that the German is well on his way to becoming a Liverpool player as he gave it his trademark 'Here We Go'.

Taking to social media, he wrote: "EXCLUSIVE: Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, HERE WE GO! Liverpool verbally agree deal in principle with Bayer Leverkusen for package reaching €150m add-ons included.

"Player side already agreed two weeks ago with move now imminent. Wirtz set for medical and contract signing."

Reacting to the news, fans have been left stunned by the money Liverpool are willing to pay for the 22-year-old.

One fan joked: "Bayer Leverkusen are laughing all the way to the bank, after all, it's not like Liverpool to overpay on a player."

Another tweeted: "Good player but €150m is insane lmao what on earth."

A third fan added: "Crazy money."

Someone else wrote: "Liverpool really paid €150M for Wirtz damn. We got Cherki, Reijnders and Rayan Aït-Nouri for less than 120M."

A fifth commented: "HOW MUCH?!"

According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, the Wirtz deal is set to break three records.

He wrote on X: "BREAKING | Florian #Wirtz to Liverpool is considered to be a done deal! New talks today. A full agreement in principle has now been reached with Bayer 04 Leverkusen. After @FabrizioRomano. Transfer fee as revealed: up to €150m with add-ons included. Medical still pending.

"Most expensive sale in Bundesliga history. Most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history. Most expensive signing in Premier League history."

The pending arrival of Wirtz will be music to Liverpool fans' ears as they hope to see their team defend their Premier League crown in the new season.

Wirtz is also set to be reunited with his former Leverkusen teammate, Jeremie Frimpong, whose move to Anfield was confirmed last month.
