Arne Slot's exact role in convincing Florian Wirtz to choose Liverpool over other European giants has been revealed.
Bayer Leverkusen and Germany star Wirtz is set to be involved in one of the biggest transfers this summer after attracting interest from Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
City appeared to see Wirtz as the perfect replacement for Kevin De Bruyne but pulled out of a deal over cost fears - though it has since been reported that the 22-year-old received no guarantees on how long Pep Guardiola will remain at the Etihad Stadium and that had an impact on his decision.

But while that promise was not met, a new report claims Liverpool boss Slot gave Wirtz very clear assurances which ultimately persuaded him to choose the Premier League champions over staying in Germany with Bayern.
After regaining the Bundesliga title from Leverkusen, Bayern wanted to make Wirtz their next marquee addition from a rival club and pulled out all the stops to make it happen.

According to a detailed report from BILD, on May 18 Wirtz had a secret meeting with Bayern chiefs where they tried to convince him to make the move - with manager Vincent Kompany speaking with him for an hour and showing a presentation on a laptop in a separate room.

However, the Belgian is believed to have come away with "serious doubts" about the signing happening.
Arne Slot was central to Florian Wirtz choosing Liverpool
Wirtz listened to his father and advisor Hans-Joachim by hearing Bayern's proposal in the flesh but he ultimately made his decision of turning down their advances five days later.
And that was because he was left "completely captivated" by his experience at Liverpool and his discussions with Slot.

It's claimed Slot was given permission to speak with Wirtz since March by offering him a "clear description of his position" and promising him a "central role in attack".
In addition, the passion displayed by both Liverpool and the club is what has swayed Wirtz to pick Liverpool.
A British-record deal of £126.3 million for Wirtz is now "a matter of time" as per Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri - who says the player is expecting to hop on a private jet to sign his five-year contract.
It would complete a double read on Leverkusen, with Jeremie Frimpong's £34.2 million move to Liverpool on the verge of being announced.
