Sky Sports targeting swoop to take Chris Sutton from BT Sport as broadcaster plans reshuffle

Sky Sports targeting swoop to take Chris Sutton from BT Sport as broadcaster plans reshuffle

Sky Sports are reportedly looking to bring in BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton to contribute to their coverage of Scottish football next season.

Chris Sutton is believed to be the target of broadcaster Sky Sports this summer as the outlet look to reshuffle their punditry lineup for their coverage of Scottish football.

The pundit is currently employed by BT Sport, which will be changing its name to TNT Sport, but is reportedly set to sign for Sky given his allegiances to Scottish juggernaut Celtic.

Sutton played 167 matches for the Bhoys, scoring 77 goals as well as winning numerous titles. He has never hid from his association with the Hoops. In fact, the 50-year-old recently went on record to say that he thinks Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu, who looks set to take the Tottenham job, will be making a step down.

"I want Ange Postecoglou to stay at Celtic and have a crack at the Champions League next season and Tottenham Hotspur is clearly a downgrade/smaller club than Celtic," the former striker said. "But nobody can deny the fact that Ange will want a crack at the Premier League down south at some stage."

A Premier League winner with Blackburn, Sutton would be joined at Sky by Rangers legend Kris Boyd and ex-Scotland ace James McFadden, according to the Daily Mail.

The two broadcasters remain the outright colossuses when it comes to broadcasting the Premier League within England. Currently, Sky get more games as part of the current broadcasting deal with Amazon Prime being added to the frame four years ago.

Not only will BT be facing changes in terms of its name, but they already know that long-serving football presenter Jake Humphrey is stepping down.

Laura Woods is one name believed to be seriously in contention to replace Humphrey, with the highly-rated broadcaster having the likes of Sky, DAZN and ITV on her CV.

Sky will also see major changes in terms of presenting personnel following the departure of Jeff Stelling from popular Saturday programme 'Soccer Saturday.'

Big changes are expected at both major broadcasters over the summer.
