Arsenal and Man Utd stars among five players who could be available for cut-price fees before deadline
Players from Arsenal and Manchester United are among those who could seal cut-price transfers away from their clubs before the transfer window closes.
The summer deadline for Premier League clubs is on September 1, though business can still be done with clubs from other leagues whose windows remain open.
But with 25-man squad lists needing to be submitted to the Premier League shortly after the deadline, clubs will have an idea even before the window shuts about which players are in their plans for the upcoming season or not.
Much of the attention at present is on whether Arsenal can seal a move for Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, while Liverpool are attempting to get a deal for PSG's Bradley Barcola over the line after reaching an agreement in principle over a £120 million fee.

Manchester United are keen to sign a new left-back, while Chelsea will be deciding whether to allow want-away midfielder Enzo Fernandez to leave Stamford Bridge to join Manchester City - despite no clubs bidding their £120 million asking price by a self-imposed deadline earlier this month.
But while that is going on, we've picked out a number of player situations that might go under the radar in the closing days of the window:
Lisandro Martinez (Manchester United)
Lisandro Martinez has been linked with a move away from Manchester United since the end of last season, but there haven't been any significant developments over his future.
After returning from the World Cup with Argentina, he was named on the bench for United's opening weekend 2-0 defeat at Hull City. Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven were preferred at centre-back, with Leny Yoro in reserve.
The injury-prone defender is now facing a 'fight to save his Manchester United career', according to talkSPORT, with only 12 months remaining on his contract.

Should it be decided that he no longer has a future at Old Trafford, United may well pull the plug early and drop their asking price to allow Martinez to move on.
Harvey Elliott (Liverpool)
When Harvey Elliott was loaned out to Aston Villa - with an obligation to buy pending appearances - at the beginning of last season, it seemed for all the world like the midfielder would never play for Liverpool again.
But fast forward 12 months and Elliott finds himself back at Anfield - and in the same situation again.
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery repeatedly praised Elliott's work ethic and attitude in training during his time at the club, but the midfielder simply couldn't get into the matchday squad.
Now, back at Liverpool, new Reds head coach Andoni Iraola admitted after the 2-2 draw against Newcastle on Sunday that he had to leave players out of his matchday list of 20. And Elliott, put simply, was one of them.
He is now in the final 12 months of his contract and, with AC Milan reportedly interested, Liverpool will have to do business this summer or face losing him for free.
Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton and Hove Albion)
In January 2025, Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma turned down a money-spinning move to join Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
As well as being one of the top wide players in the Premier League, with his dribbling a key asset of his game, Mitoma's impact on Brighton goes far beyond the pitch and into the commercial sphere, given he is one of the most popular sportspeople in his home country of Japan.
But the Seagulls face a dilemma when it comes to the 29-year-old this summer. His contract expires next summer, and he still hasn't returned from hamstring surgery that caused him to miss the World Cup.
In April, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler said that the club were in a 'very transparent exchange' with Mitoma over a new contract. But the German said the same thing about Jan Paul van Hecke, who moved to Spurs at the beginning of the summer.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, AC Milan enquired about a potential move for Mitoma but decided against proceeding - and Brighton may need to consider his future if a new contract agreement isn't forthcoming. Fans of the Premier League will no doubt hope Mitoma stays in English football, though.
Jack Grealish (Manchester City)
Having returned to Manchester City for pre-season and been brought on as a substitute in their opening Premier League game, Jack Grealish's future has been up in the air for much of the summer.
City have sold the likes of Nico Gonzalez, Savio and James Trafford for big money this summer, but don't have that same luxury with Grealish given his contractual situation.
According to BBC Sport, Grealish would prefer a return to Everton - where he spent last season on loan under David Moyes - and a deal could quickly develop in the closing days of the transfer window.

Gabriel Martinelli (Arsenal)
It doesn't seem that long enough that Gabriel Martinelli was signing a new long-term contract to stay at Arsenal until 2027.
At the time, in February 2023, the Brazil international said he 'couldn't imagine being anywhere else'.
But times have changed and, having helped Arsenal to become Premier League champions for the first time since 2004 last season, it looks increasingly likely that his days at the club are numbered.
Reports have suggested that Martinelli has been told he is free to move on from north London, though Arsenal legend Ian Wright claimed last week that, from the Brazilian international's camp, the player himself had not been told.
Martinelli is said to be closing in on a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal for a fee in excess of £50 million - which is surely far less than what Arsenal could have demanded had he been on a longer contract.
