Shock Premier League club interested in signing Jack Grealish as Sunderland move set to be hijacked

A third Premier League side have registered interest in signing Jack Grealish on loan.

With the September 1 transfer deadline approaching, Grealish’s future remains unclear despite the Englishman featuring in Manchester City’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth last weekend.

The 30-year-old spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Everton, for whom he made a positive impact, registering six assists and two goals in 20 Premier League appearances before his season was brought to a premature end due to a broken foot.

Grealish, who earns a reported salary of £300,000 per week, remains highly thought of on Merseyside, although a return to the Hill Dickinson looks unlikely at this point, with Everton already signing left-winger Tyrique George from Chelsea during the summer window.

And on Wednesday (August 26), The Athletic reported that Sunderland have sent an offer to sign Grealish on loan, with a proposal to cover a percentage of the Englishman’s salary, as well as an option to make the move permanent when his City deal expires in 2027.

The Black Cats are also interested in a move for Marseille winger Igor Paixao as they look to bolster their squad ahead of competing in the Europa League this term.

City remain open to letting Grealish leave this summer, and it appears it’s not just Sunderland and Everton who are keen on recruiting him.

According to talkSPORT, Grealish’s former club Aston Villa are also interested in signing him on loan.

The 30-year-old came through the ranks at Villa, having joined the club as a six-year-old before making his first-team debut at 18 back in 2013.

He went on to develop into Villa’s star man, helping them gain promotion to the Premier League in 2019.

Two years later, Grealish signed for Man City for £100million, going on to win three Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and FA Cup.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano issued an update on Grealish via his YouTube channel.

He said: “My understanding is that two clubs are interested in Jack Grealish, Aston Villa or Everton.

“Let’s see, because this could become a massive surprise. Aston Villa are busy with different things, and then Everton are always thinking about Jack Grealish, but at the moment my understanding is that there is nothing advanced with Sunderland.”
