Scott McTominay is being eyed up for a sensational return to the Premier League, shock reports claim.

McTominay has reached incredible new heights since leaving Manchester United for Napoli in a £25.4 million deal in 2024.

Instantly adapting to life in Italy, the Scotland international reinvented himself as a prolific goalscoring midfielder, finding the net 13 times in his debut season and firing Napoli to a historic fourth Serie A title.

McTominay, adored by the Napoli fans, received the Serie A MVP for his displays and was rewarded with an 18th place in the 2025 Ballon d'Or rankings for his debut nomination.

He's bagged four goals for Napoli this season and continued his fine form with a bicycle kick for Scotland, helping them beat Denmark 4-2 and qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1998.

Fresh from his heroics, Fichajes claim the 28-year-old is the subject of strong interest from Everton, who are said to be weighing up a record offer for McTominay.

The Toffees' club-record deal was the £50 million capture of Richarlison from Watford in 2018 but they are prepared to pay £62 million to McTominay back to England.

It's claimed that David Moyes believes McTominay could excel in his side, taking on a box-crashing role similar to the one Marouane Fellaini performed with distinction for him many years back.

"Moyes values his ability to burst into the box from deep, comparing him to the powerful Marouane Fellaini of old," the report states.

"This quality would give Everton a dangerous option in their attacking transitions, capable of creating havoc in the opposition’s defence.

"The club is considering a significant investment to bring him back to the Premier League."

McTominay is a key player for Antonio Conte and Napoli, who are competing in this season's Champions League. It remains to be seen whether he would swap his lifestyle for a second crack at the Premier League, where he played 178 times for United.

McTominay tipped for United return

Though he is adored in Naples, United legend Dwight Yorke believes McTominay would jump at the chance to return to United if they profiled him differently to how they did in his first spell after coming through the academy set-up.

A bit-part player, McTominay often played deep in midfield but he has thrived in an advanced role for club and country - well and truly showing his qualities.

“You know Man United would have to pay some serious money to go and get McTominay back,” Yorke told Snabbare, via the Express.

“It would be difficult to admit they made a mistake, but having said that, he would relish the fact he’s now being backed by the club if they did go back in for him."

He added: "They’d probably get him playing even further up the park which would only make things more confusing. That’s why he wouldn’t come back."
