A Premier League side has emerged as the frontrunners to sign Scott McTominay after reports surfaced claiming that he’s open to a return to England despite his Serie A success.

McTominay has certainly been a hit in Naples since his 2024 transfer from Manchester United.

During Napoli’s 2024/25 Serie A-winning campaign, the Scotland international was one of the first names on Antonio Conte’s team sheet and finished the season as the league’s Player of the Year after making 18 goal contributions.

So far this term, Napoli have struggled in the Champions League, having lost two of their three matches - against Manchester City and PSV – but they are currently top of Serie A after McTominay’s impressive strike helped the side to a 3-1 win over Inter on Saturday.

Based on his celebrations on Saturday and overall form since joining Napoli, you’d assume that McTominay was happy at his current side, but a report from The Sun claims that the midfielder is ‘weary’ of his situation in Italy.

The outlet suggested that the Scotland international is feeling the effects of the constant attention from the Napoli faithful despite receiving huge praise from supporters.

Although he is clearly enjoying other aspects of life in Italy and claimed: "I love this place, I love the fans, I love my team-mates,” when he spoke to BBC Sport back in December 2024.

But, if the 28-year-old were to return to the Premier League, which club could he join?

The first club that supporters may suggest is Man United, but several other Premier League teams return shorter odds via Betfair.

Newcastle United are the frontrunners to sign McTominay at odds of 5/1, while Chelsea are at 15/1.

Third and fourth favourites are Napoli’s Serie A rivals, Juventus at 17/1 and Inter at 18/1, while Arsenal complete the top five at odds of 18/1.
