Nottingham Forest Player Agrees to Leave Club Days After Ange Postecoglou Arrival

Ange Postecoglou has taken one of the toughest jobs in the Premier League and brought some mates with him, but one of his new players is set to leave before the former Spurs boss gets started.

Nottingham Forest is no place for a manager who wants an easy life but Postecoglou doesn't often do things the easy way.

After being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur despite winning the Europa League, Postecoglou has embraced the challenge of working under Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis and with global head of football Edu, the combination that saw off Nuno Espirito Santo this week.

Postecoglou added trusted charges Nick Montgomery and Mile Jedinak to Forest's coaching staff on Thursday before their Premier League season resumes with a return to north London to face Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime.

One player is already on the way out, according to reports.

The summer transfer deadline has passed for most leagues but clubs in Europe looking to offload players still have time to export them to the Turkish Super Lig or Greek Premier League this week, Serbia's Super Liga before next Wednesday or the Saudi Pro League until September 23.

Istanbul is the destination for Forest winger Jota Silva, who is heading to Besiktas.

Silva joined Forest from Vitoria Guimaraes last summer and made a modest impression at the City Ground, scoring all three of his Premier League goals in a four-game spell in the spring.

But the Portuguese player started just five league matches in 2024-25 and has been given only 12 minutes so far this term.

"Besiktas are closing in on deal to sign Jota Silva from Nottingham Forest!" posted transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X, formerly Twitter.

"New winger on the way for Besiktas, deal almost agreed on loan with buy option clause that might turn into obligation.

"Green light imminent from [Forest], then..." – you know the rest, sadly.

Besiktas raiding the transfer market this summer

The Istanbul club haven't held back when it comes to new signings in 2025.

Besiktas have added former Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to their ranks along with ex-Rangers loanee Vaclav Cerny, Portuguese midfielder and former loan player Joao Mario and, temporarily, England striker Tammy Abraham.

Full-back Ridvan Yilmaz has returned to the club from Rangers as Besiktas look to close the gap between themselves and champions Galatasaray.

The Black and Whites, who have also been linked with Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa, finished fourth last season.
