Liverpool Player Slammed After 'Nightmare' Performance Against Nottingham Forest

A number of supporters took to social media and did not hold back with their assessment of the player's performance at Anfield.

Liverpool supporters voiced their thoughts after one of their players put in a “nightmare” performance in the Reds' 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Liverpool experienced their second Premier League defeat at Anfield this term against an impressive Forest side led by ex-Everton boss Sean Dyche.

Despite the likes of Alexander Isak, Mohamed Salah and the returning Alisson starting the match, Arne Slot’s side struggled to deal with the physicality of Forest, particularly on the counterattack.

The away side went ahead thanks to Murillo’s strike on 33 minutes, with some Liverpool fans claiming that Dan Ndoye was standing in front of Alisson’s eyeline, but the goal stood.

The Premier League Match Centre later claimed that the Forest man “did not make an action that impacted an opponent”.

Just minutes later, Forest had the ball in the net again before referee Andy Madley ruled Igor Jesus’ strike out for handball with the decision upheld by VAR.

But, deservedly so, Dyche’s side did get their second on 46 minutes via Nicolo Savona, who finished Neco Williams' cutback to silence a stunned Anfield.

As Liverpool pressed and left more gaps in defence, Forest took further advantage with 11 minutes to play as Morgan Gibbs-White added a third to the delight of the 3,000 or so away fans who could hardly believe their eyes.

Hardly any Liverpool players could walk out of Anfield with their heads held high after such a lacklustre performance, but fans were particularly displeased with centre-back Ibrahima Konate’s showing, with the France international withdrawn for Hugo Ekitike at half-time.

Fans were quick to offer their thoughts on Konate’s display on social media.

One said: “Konate is up there with the worst defenders in the league this season. Not many starting defenders have been worse, honestly.”

Another added: “Konate has been an absolute shambles first half.

“We need Guéhi in the door on the 1st of January and bin off the contract talks with Konate if this is the level of performance he is going to produce.”

A third claimed: “Konate's often been worse than Lovren for much of this season. Genuinely.”

While a fourth commented: “Konate needs to be dropped at this point because he's genuinely catastrophic. Every goal we concede is on him.”

Meanwhile, The Athletic’s James Pearce claimed that the defender put in a “nightmare” performance during the first half.

Konate has been heavily linked with a potential move to Real Madrid for some time, as his Liverpool contract is due to expire in June 2026. He will be able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with Los Blancos during the January transfer window.
