A Liverpool fan-favourite player could be set to leave the club when the transfer window reopens in January.
It has been only 11 weeks since the dramatic summer transfer window that saw several major players come to the Premier League officially shut on September 1, and yet the January window is quickly approaching.
The English Premier League will open the transfer window on Thursday, January 1, and close it at 7 p.m. GMT on Monday, February 2, four hours earlier than in previous seasons.
Despite many teams being extremely active during the summer, several are still expected to remain busy in January, including Premier League champions Liverpool.

But it appears that it won't just be new signings that Liverpool will be focusing on at the start of next year, as one fan-favourite player has been strongly linked with a move away in January.

A blockbuster transfer window for Liverpool saw the club break the Premier League transfer occasion on two times, signing both Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak for a combined total of around £241million.
Despite this, the Reds are expected to search for a new centre back in January having missed out on Marc Guehi on deadline day, and have also been strongly linked with Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

However, a new report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Federico Chiesa also be on the way out in the January if the Italian's minutes do not increase over the festive period.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “What's happening with Chiesa? He's publicly expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool and play his cards right.
"If he still hasn't found the playing time he's hoping for between now and January, and the club were to sign another winger, then we need to be careful.
"Italian clubs will be able to try again in January if necessary; in the summer, the doors to Chiesa and Liverpool were closed. Today, the door is closed, but keep an eye on January 20th, depending on the circumstances.”

Since his arrival from Juventus in August 2024, the forward has spent the majority of his Liverpool career on the bench.
In nearly 18 months at Liverpool, Chiesa has just 26 appearances, many of which were as a substitute.
Because of this, several Serie A sides were linked with bringing Chiesa back to his home country over the summer, with many of them expected to return to the table should the 28-year-old be available in January.

But it's not just Italian clubs that are believed to be monitoring Chiesa's situation, as Premier League rivals West Ham United are also said to be interested in signing the forward on loan.
