Liverpool fans think one player is ‘not at the level’ after Nottingham Forest draw

Liverpool supporters think one player is not at the level after his performance in the side’s 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest.

Andoni Iraola took charge of his first Premier League match at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime (August 29), with Liverpool looking to avoid a third successive home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Iraola’s side did not get off to a good start, with Morgan Gibbs-White setting up Dan Ndoye, who gave the away side a deserved lead after 24 minutes.

Liverpool thought they had levelled on the half-hour mark, with Florian Wirtz finding the net, only for his strike to be disallowed as Jeremie Frimpong was adjudged to be offside during the build-up.

After a fairly even start to the second half, Cody Gakpo, who continues to be linked with a move to Spurs, assisted Alexander Isak, who made it 1-1 on the hour mark by tapping into an empty net.

But Forest restored their lead in the 70th minute when Alisson conceded a penalty for a challenge on Neco Williams. Gibbs-White stepped up and made no mistake from 12 yards.

Liverpool fans were pleased to hear earlier today that the club had agreed a package worth £106million, with £17million in potential add-ons, for Bradley Barcola, while the Reds are also being linked with a move to hijack Newcastle United’s pursuit of Matias Fernandez-Pardo.

Summer signing Jeremy Jacquet appears to be settling into life in the Premier League well alongside Virgil van Dijk, although fans think another recruit is struggling to reach the level needed to compete in the division despite making an important contribution.

Numerous Liverpool supporters took to social media to voice their concerns about Victor Munoz during the first half.

One fan said: “Munoz looking exactly how I expected him to when we signed him LoL Rushed in his actions and non-existent final ball so far. Disappointing because he's had some good looks today.”

Another added: “I really don’t rate this Munoz signing at all this guy can not hack prem intensity.”

A third claimed: “Think Munoz is a project player and so not at the level yet but feel so sorry for him. He's such a lonely player there and Gakpo has never played right side.”

A fourth commented: “This Victor Muñoz guy might be the most useless winger I’ve ever seen in a Liverpool shirt. The guy looks completely lost.”

A fifth waded in: “This Munoz guy Liverpool have signed is one of the worst wingers I’ve seen in the prem.”

Munoz did answer his critics late in the game by smashing home his first Liverpool goal to make it 2-2, although his overall performance must improve if he wants to stay in the side, according to some fans.

Liverpool return to action away at Ipswich Town on September 4.
