Arne Slot was given the boot by Liverpool on the same day as the 2026 Champions League final - just a year on from winning the Premier League in his first season.
Slot had one year remaining on his contract at Anfield and reportedly received £6.9 million in compensation following his dismissal.
In a statement released following his contract being terminated, Slot said the connection he shares with Liverpool "goes beyond football" as he stated, "I leave with complete confidence in what lies ahead."
Arne Slot has been living his best life on football adventure
The Dutchman has not rushed to return to the dug-out however, and has been working with Uefa's Technical Observer Group on Champions League games - studying games and producing detailed technical reports on coaching and tactics.
He was back at old club Feyenoord in September for their Eredivisie clash with PEC Zwolle, who he played for between 2010 and 2013.

But more recently, Slot has embarked on a South American adventure as he was spotted at the iconic La Bombonera stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina to watch one of the fiercest rivalries in world football as Boca Juniors squared off against River Plate.

In the stands with the die-hard fans, Slot wore a retro Diego Maradona jersey for Boca's 1-0 win in a game where the visitors had two players sent off.
Taking to Instagram to share the snap of he and Slot, Boca supporter Juan Mercoli wrote: "Thanks for your visit to the best fanbase in the world".
Slot wasn't done there, however. His next stop was Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to watch Flamengo take on Gremio at the legendary Maracana in Brazilian Serie A.
Slot, who has been joined by his son Joep turned up wearing a Flamengo jersey bearing the name of Brazil legend Zico - who scored 393 goals in 581 games.
But footage uploaded by Brazilian journalist Lucas Bayer showed Slot being presented with his own personalised shirt by Flamengo's president.
His son also received a shirt with "Joep Slot" on the back.
Flamengo, who have a host of ex Premier League players in Jorginho, Saul Niguez, Emerson Royal and Guillermo Varela, won 3-1.
Arne Slot turned down four major job offers after Liverpool sacking
Slot has been living his best life but he wasn't short of offers to return to the game. Fulham are said to have made an approach for the 43-year-old before appointing Alvaro Arbeloa.
AC Milan and Al Ahli also showed interest in Slot, who turned down both offers.
Slot also received a huge proposal to manage the Netherlands national team after the departure of Ronald Koeman.
However, he decided to reject the opportunity to coach his country as he still sees his immediate future in club football as he said he prefers to be "on the training pitch with my players every day".
Slot did say that, "it would be a great honour to represent my country as national coach one day" but stressed it is "not the right moment for me".
For now, Slot looks set to continue his bucket list football experience that only we could dream of.
