Gareth Bale has had a complete shocker after he missed an amazing opportunity to score the winner for Real Madrid in El Clásico.

Marc-André ter Stegen came running out of the box to stop Los Blancos' players from being clean through on net.

However, the 26-year-old German 'keeper found himself scrambling back to his net after the ball found its way into the path of Bale.

Barcelona's backline put in their best effort to protect the open net, but the 29-year-old Welsh winger was closed down and failed to pull off a clean enough strike.

Check it out below.

The first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final ended in a 1-1 draw at the Camp Nou.

Lucas Vázquez opened the scoring for Madrid in the first half, but Malcom would pull Barcelona back into the match in the second half.

Lionel Messi started the match on the bench, with Barça manager Ernesto Valverde revealing that he wouldn't take a risk with the Argentine ace after he picked up a knock against Valencia.

"I am not very supportive of taking risks when there are so many games ahead," he said.

"If the league ended tomorrow, it would be a different question.

"But risking the fitness of any player -- Messi or anyone else -- I'm not really in favour of it because they inevitably play with some fear, and games like tomorrow cannot be played with fear."

Who will win the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final and progress to the final?
